I've always wondered if I am a sadist Or a masochist. Now I've come to the conclusion That I must be a sadist. I can tell what I'm saying is hurting you, Lots of little slices like broken glass in your skin, As I see you wince from the words that slur from my breath. Good. I keep my tongue sharpened and packed with venom, Ready to inject anyone who does me wrong. I want the toxic words to work their evil magic, Slow but surely consuming you, eating you alive. So why is it that I keep letting you poison me?

dear sarah, yesterday I tried to swallow the sun. it burned me up on the inside until even my skin was hot to the touch, and I thought of you. I hope you have found better ways than me to feel lighter. heaven knows there are days where I still trade my feet for concrete blocks and try to sprint to the finish line, but at least I have stopped straying towards the riverbanks. at least I get out of bed. most days, that’s enough. but if you tell me that most days life still feels like a choice you’re making every minute, I will tell you that I understand. that is so true! I like how you connected the beginning and end, although maybe using the same phrase might not work for other works, it worked pretty good in this poem. Good job!
